Police start investigation into ‘misuse’ of PM’s Twitter account

KATHMANDU: Police have started an investigation into a ‘misuse’ of a Twitter account belonging to Prime Minister KP Oli.

The investigation started after a tweet by Indian politician Sonia Gandhi was retweeted from the prime minister’s account.

The incident has created a hullabaloo among social media users.

According to IT Expert to PM Oli, Asgar Ali, all necessary data have been handed over to the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police on Saturday.

He added that the Twitter account was not hacked but was ‘misused’.

A preliminary investigation by police states that the retweet was done from an iPhone belonging to PM Secretariat.
