NOC to take stern action against black marketers

KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) is taking stern action against black marketers who artificially create a shortage of cooking gas.

The NOC decided for the stern action after receiving several complaints regarding the shortage of gas supplies in Kathmandu Valley and other parts of the country.

NOC Director Birendra Goit shared 40 thousand metric tons of cooking gas is supplied in the country though the demand is only 38 thousand tons. However, an artificial shortage was reported to the NOC.

He further shared they were planning to scrap the depot permit if the gas was not supplied smoothly.

Goit also informed that the consumers may have collected additional gas cylinders.  Meanwhile, the NOC has further clarified that it had sufficient storage of petrol and diesel in the country.
