Singer Durgesh arrested for ‘derogatory’ lyrics



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested singer Durgesh Thapa for using derogatory words believed to misguide the society and disrupt social harmony in his latest song “Happy Tihar, Chiso Beer’.

He was arrested from Baluwatar on Tuesday.

A complaint was earlier filed at the District Administration Office Kathmandu against singer Durgesh alleging him of misguiding the society and using derogatory lyrics in his song.

Police have said he would be released only if he removed the song from YouTube.
