PARIS/NEW DELHI: India and other member countries of the FATF (Financial Action Task Force) have charged Pakistan of failing to take concrete action against Hafiz Saeed, Maula Masood Azhar and other UN-designated terrorists. After global financial watchdog Financial Action Task Force instructed Pakistan to curb terror financing by October or face consequences. India said officially that it expects Islamabad to take “credible, verifiable, irreversible and sustainable measures” to address concerns related to terrorism and terror funding.

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) on Friday issued a strong warning to Pakistan. Pakistan runs a danger of being blacklisted by the organization unless it fulfils an “action plan” against UN-designated terrorists operating on its soil by October.

In response to a query on the FATF report, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said the global watchdog has decided to continue to keep Pakistan on its “grey list” because Pakistan has not yet shown credible actions to check terrorists’ activities on its soil.

“We expect Pakistan to take all necessary steps to effectively implement the  FATF Action Plan fully within the remaining time frame i.e. by September 2019 in accordance with its political commitment to the FATF and take credible, verifiable, irreversible and sustainable measures to address global concerns related to terrorism and terrorist financing emanating from any territory under its control,” Raveesh Kumar said this morning.
