NEW DELHI: The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Wednesday successfully test fired the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, an air-launched version, from its frontline Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft.
IAF dubbed the launch as smooth, and the missile followed the trajectory before hitting the land target.
The air-launched version of BrahMos missile, a 2.5 ton supersonic air to surface cruise missile, which has a range of around 300 km, reports said.
The Indian Air Force, which successfully fired an air-launched 2.8 Mach surface attack missile on a sea target on November 22, 2017, has become the first air force in the world to do so. Wednesday’s launch is the second of this type, reports said. (Agencies)
