Advertisement Regulation Bill ‘to regulate’ advertisement business

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives (HoR) on Wednesday unanimously endorsed “Advertisement Regulation Bill- 2075 BS” tabled by Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Baskota seeking its consideration.

Taking part in the discussion of its theoretical aspects, lawmaker Ram Kumari Jhankri noted that the bill would help end the culture of unjust progress of media houses as well as the use of communications as the means of misleading the society.

On the occasion, Minister Baskota said the bill has incorporated the provision of obtaining permission from the local level to place hoarding boards, which he said was one of the means of advertisement.

According to him, the bill has also provisioned of areas that are prohibited for advertisement as well as free advertisements during the humanitarian crisis and natural calamities.

Likewise, he informed that the bill is also aimed at prohibiting the haphazard advertisement of drugs and drug-related products.
