Govt survey team reaches top of Everest

KATHMANDU: A survey team sent by the government to (re)measure the height of Mt. Everest has successfully reached atop the world’s highest peak today.

The government had sent the team to measure the height of the world’s highest peak in the aftermath of the assumption that Mt Everest’s height got shrunk after the 2015 devastating earthquake.

Chief survey officer of the Survey Department Khimlal Gautam and officer Rabin Karki fixed equipment of Global Navigation Satellite System at a point around the summit after reaching atop the Mt Everest, according to Department’s Mount Everest Measurement Project coordinator Sushil Dangol.

The team was accompanied by other two employees Yubraj Dhital and Suraj Singh Bhandari along with Sherpa guides.

Dhital and Bhandari are at the Everest Base Camp (EBC) to assist the team. Dangol said it might take around six months for the team for the findings.
