Eight killed as 6.3 magnitude quake rattles Manila

MANILA: At least eight people were killed after a strong earthquake rattled the Philippine capital on Monday.

The tremor sent tens of thousands who have just returned from the long Holy Week holiday out of homes.

The United States Geological Survey said the magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck 60km north-west of Manila at a depth of 40km.

The eight people were killed when two buildings and some houses collapsed in two towns in Pampanga province.
