APF official who fled to US arrested

KATHMANDU: An Armed Police (APF) official, who had gone into hiding during his VIP protection training in the United States of America, has been arrested.

Sub Inspector Umesh Silwal, who went to the US for a VIP protection training on April 20, 2011, had gone into hiding by flouting organizational rules.

A team of Armed Police Force arrested Silwal from Lalitpur on Thursday.

A special court of APF last year had slapped him with a three-year jail sentence for flouting organizational rules.

Arrested Silwal has been sent to jail as per the court’s order, said DIG Suraj Shrestha, spokesperson of the APF.
