Man blackmailed woman with indecent pictures

ABU DHABI: A man was jailed for a year and fined Dh500,000 after he was found guilty of blackmailing and breaching online laws. Official court documents stated that the woman in her early 20s met the defendant on social media and they started dating.

The man asked her to send him inappropriate pictures of her, which he later used to blackmail her.

Prosecutors said the woman paid the man up to Dh700,000 after he threatened to publish her pictures in social media.

When the man continued with his threats and demanded more money, the woman reported the matter to the police. Cops tracked down the blackmailer and he was arrested.
