CHITWAN: The number of men seeking divorce at the District Court in Chitwan following the implementation of the new Criminal Code is increasing than that of women.

Out of the total 845 applications registered at the Chitwan District Court in the last fiscal year, 279 applicants were men, according to advocate Phul Maya Ranabhat.

The increase has been attributed to the new Code that allows husbands to file for divorce. Advocate Ranabhat stated more men have been seeking legal resources in the domestic dispute as well as for second marriage after the new Code was implemented.
