USA deports 115 illegal Nepali migrants



KATHMANDU: The United States of America (USA) has so far this year deported 115 illegal Nepali migrants.

According to the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police, they have received details of 115 Nepali deported from the beginning of the Nepali month of Baisakh (April/May).

DSP Ishworbabu Karki at the Bureau said, “We estimate that some 8,000-10,000 Nepalis are traveling on illegal routes to reach the USA.”

He added that they have been receiving information only after the formation of the special bureau to combat human trafficking.

Most of them deported reach the USA with the help of human traffickers. They have to travel through some eight to ten countries before reaching the USA. Some of them are caught before reaching.

Recently, the USA had deported five Nepali citizens to Nepal on the US chartered plane. They were deported to Nepal after having been identified as illegal migrants.
