Demolition of PM’s official residence building starts



KATHMANDU: Demolition of the Prime Minister’s official residence building at Baluwatar has started on Wednesday to construction a new residence for the PM.

Until the construction of a new building, Prime Minister KP Oli will shift to a building in the southern side of the premises of PM residence, where he will reside temporarily, according to PM’s press advisor Surya Thapa.

The new building for PM will replace the old building constructed during Panchyat era.

To be constructed at the cost of Rs 338 million by the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction, the project, which started on September 1, has a completion deadline of two years.

The project named Prime Minister Residence has been awarded to Contech Pvt. Ltd.
