Nepal observes Constitution Day (In pics)



KATHMANDU: Constitution Day is being observed on Friday by organizing various programs across the country.

It is observed on the Nepali month of Ashwin 3 (September 20) in commemoration of the promulgation of Constitution of Nepal through the Constituent Assembly on September 20, 2015.

A special event is being held at the Nepal Army Pavilion in Tundikhel today to mark the day.

President Bhandari has extended best wishes to all the Nepalis at home and abroad on the occasion of the Constitution Day, wishing for the peace, progress, national unity, integrity, and mutual harmony.

President Bhandari has asserted that the Constitution of Nepal has embraced federal democratic republic and ensured press freedom and inclusiveness and successfully conducted three tiers of elections to institutionalize the federal democratic republican set up.

Bhandari has assured that the country was moving towards the socialism-oriented economy as envisaged by the Constitution.

The Head of the State has expressed her confidence that this day would motivate all the Nepalis to remain committed to the national aspiration of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’.

She has also urged one and all to make honest and earnest effort to transform the norms and spirit of the Constitution into practice.

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari released pigeons as a symbol of peace on the occasion, wishing for peace and stability in the country.

Likewise, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Scouts also performed march past in Tundikhel.
