Rs 400 mln estimated cost for by-elections

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission Nepal (ECN) has fixed 550 polling centers for by-elections to be held on November.

According to Shankar Prasad Kharel, by-elections are being held for 50 posts that include a member of the House of Representative, three lawmakers of Provincial Assembly, chief of rural municipality, four deputy chiefs of rural municipality, municipality mayor and 41 ward members.

Similarly, the estimated cost for holding  elections is put at Rs 500,000.  Nepali people who turned 18 on August 1 can vote in the by elections.
