SOLUKHUMBU: The Khurkot-Ghurmi road under the Mid-hill highway has come back to operation after a week. It had been completely shut down following landslides triggered by heavy rainfall since July 11.
Landslide debris in six different locations on the road were removed to open one-way traffic on Thursday and two-way since Friday morning, according to Chief District Officer (CDO) of Solukhumbu Narendra Kumar Rana.
Travelers who had remained stranded since a week have begun leaving for their respective destination, Traffic police Naran Bahadur Basnet said. Meanwhile, it is reported that some more days will be required to resume traffic on the Siddhicharan Highway.
Works are underway to remove the landslide debris in Thanti and other places of the road and will take some time before it is opened for traffic, CDO of Udayapur Dhruva Bahadur Khadka said.
