NEW DELHI: India’s President Ram Nath Kovind has underscored water crisis that almost half of India is facing. He maintained that the country now needs to work steadfastly to save water for future generations, Indian media reports have said.
President Kovind said it is high time that the country saved water for the coming generations while addressing the joint session of the Indian parliament on Wednesday.
President Kovind’s statement about water crisis has been significant at a time when a Niti Aayog report released last week that said the country is suffering from the worst water crisis in its history.
According to the report, around 60 crore people face extreme water stress and around two lakh people die annually due to inadequate access to safe water. (Agencies)
