Lawmakers regret having attended Tibet conference

KATHMANDU: House of Representatives (HoR) members Pradip Yadav and Ekwal Miyan regretted their participation in the conference on Tibet in Riga of Latvia recently.

The lawmakers said they happened to attend the lawmakers’ conference in Riga on May 7 to 10 by mistake.

Issuing a joint press statement today, lawmakers Yadav and Miyan said they inadvertently attended the conference because of misinformation about an international conference that was taking place in Riga, the capital of Latvia at a time when they were on a private visit to Switzerland, Turkey, and Latvia.

“We left the conference and returned home as soon as we learned the reality of the conference,” they said expressing regret for their participation in the conference

The lawmakers also expressed the commitment to the Constitution of Nepal, and to government’s ‘One China’ policy.

They have also expressed their commitment to abide by the conditions and requirements for the lawmakers specified in the House of Representatives (HoR) Regulations 2075.

Miyan said they also met with the Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara on Monday and described the reality to him.
