RARA: Three resorts are to be built targeting visitors to the Rara Lake, the major tourist destination, in the Karnali state.

Though the number of tourists visiting the lake from home and abroad has been going up in the recent years, a very limited number of hotels and restaurants here has prohibited travelers from making the trip a total fun.

Bearing this in mind, foundation stones of three resorts named ‘Village Resort’ at Talcha, Salleri and Murma were laid on Friday. Over Rs 150 million is being invested in the project, said its chair and youth entrepreneur Anup Bikram Shah. According to him, the resorts will occupy 20 ropanis of land in total and will have 60 rooms.

They are going to be established mainly targeting the Nepal Visit Year 2020.

Presently, two hotels–Danfe and Village Heritage–are operational near the lake targeting the visitors and their capacity is to accommodate up to 100 people.

But these hotels have become a headache for locals who accuse them of polluting the lake and its environs. They demand the shifting of these hotels to somewhere outside the lake territory.

Shah said the resort structures will be built from prefab as Gorkha Eco Panel will be used for them.
