PARASI: The National Folk and Dohori Song Academy, Nawalparasi has stood first in the national Dohori song competition held in Bardaghat of West Nawalparasi. The event was organized in order to protect, promote and preserve the unique folk music of the country.
A total of 9 teams from Nawalparasi, Gulmi, Palpa, and Rupandehi had taken part in the competition that concluded on Friday. The group led by Laxmi Basnet stood first in the competition. Likewise, Deurali Roghi Ghar Butwal led by Bikram Babu Biswakarma came second and the group led by Raj Kumar Neupane of Godhuli Rodhi Ghar, Butwal came third.
The event was hosted by the Dauntari FM radio station to mark its third anniversary in collaboration with the National Folk and Dohori Song Academy. The winners bagged a cash prize of Rs. 25,000, Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively, according to managing director of the FM radio station, Narayan Bhandari.
On the occasion, a popular folk artist like Shanti Shree Pariyar, Narayan Lekali, Bharat Chettr, Bhuparaj Neupane, and others presented their songs and performances to entertain the audience.
