Pudasaini suicide case: Police record statements of Rabi Lamichhane, others

CHITWAN: Chitwan Police on Monday recorded the statements of journalist Rabi Lamichhane and three others accused of abetting a suicide.

Journalists Lamichhane and Yuvaraj Kandel and Ashmita Karki were taken to the District Attorney Office clandestinely to record their statements. Based on the statements, police might file a case or seek an extension of the judicial custody of the accused.

The Chitwan District Court on Friday had remanded them to five-day in judicial custody to facilitate investigation over an alleged suicide by journalist Shalikram Pudasaini.

Journalist Pudasaini, who was found dead in a hotel room here on August 5, in a video, had accused them of abetting the suicide.

Earlier today, District Administration Office Chitwan had prohibited all sorts of demonstration in Bharatpur to avert untoward incidences after Lamichhane’s supporters took to street claiming that he has been framed.
