Helmet compulsory for pillion riders

KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Traffic Police Division has set a rule to wear a helmet for pillion riders of two-wheelers.

Speaking at a press meet in Kathmandu today, SSP Basant Kumar Pant, Chief of Division, said that they are mulling over a mandatory rule to wear helmets to reduce deaths from two-wheeler accidents. The rule will be implemented within the next six months, he informed.

Pant added that the division has requested the Department of Transport Management to amend the laws to wear helmets compulsorily for the pillion riders.
