ABU fifth conference to be held next week

KATHMANDU: The fifth summit of Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) will be organized from April 25-26 in Kathmandu.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology said summit titled ‘Fifth ABU Media Summit Climate Action Disaster Preparedness’, is going to be organized coinciding the day — April 25, 2015 — when a devastating earthquake struck Nepal killing around 10,000 people.

A total of 76 nations in the Asia-Pacific region are associated in the union. The previous editions of the summit were held in Indonesia, Thailand, Bangladesh and Fiji.

Around 200 representatives are taking part in the event.
