Agreement to complete Duhabi-Katahari transmission line within 45 days



KATHMANDU: An agreement has been reached to complete the obstructed 33 KV Duhabi-Katahari transmission line within 45 days.

The transmission line came to a halt midway when the locals of Gidaniya village of Gramthan rural municipality in Morang district obstructed it putting forth various demands.

The agreement was struck following a discussion among federal lawmaker from the respective area Aman Lal Modi, Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Kulman Ghising, President of the Industry Association Morang, Bhim Ghimire, and chairperson of the respective rural municipality was held on Friday at the initiatives of State 1 Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai to do away with the obstruction.

The dialogue directed the construction of the transmission line within 45 days after carrying out a technical study to remove the obstruction, said CM Rai. “Industries in Morang and the entire consumers have been deprived of regular power supply. So, the project should be completed after resolving the problems around it,” he said.

On the occasion, NEA Executive Director Ghising pledged initiatives to carry out reforms in electricity in the area.

The project is expected to meet electricity demand for Katahari-Rangeli corridor, and resolve low-voltage problems facing residents of Biratnagar.
