Sagarmatha Sambaad 2020 to be held on April 3-4



KATHMANDU: The Sagarmatha Sambaad on ‘Climate Change, Mountains and Future of the Humanity’ will be held in Kathmandu on April 3 and 4, 2020.

The Sambaad to be organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal in collaboration with the Institute of Foreign Affairs and the Policy Research Institute, the Sambaad aims at exchanging Nepal’s experience and achievements on issues such as peace process, society, politics, economy, environment, conflict management with the world.

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Pradeep Gyawali, who is also the Director of the Sagarmatha Sambaad and coordinator of the organizing committee, stated that issues including climate change, environment, economy, world trade, immigration, terrorism, information technology, intellectual property, and other technologies will be prioritized.

He said that the Sambaad is expected to draw the world’s attention to issues of common concern at national and regional levels.

The dialogue, he said, aims at ensuring greater participation of people from different walks of life, mainly Nepal’s development partners, private sector, civil society, and those from the academic field.

The Sagarmatha Sambad 2020 will also deliberate on a number of themes such as culture and technology, traditional knowledge, food security, agriculture, forest and biodiversity, tourism, green economy, energy and water, and low carbon resilience, it has been informed.
