KATHMANDU: Tension flared at Prashuti Griha in Thapathali after a mother died in course of delivering a child on Thursday afternoon.

Irate kin of the deceased demonstrated on the hospital premises and vandalized the hospital alleging that the mother of a newborn died due to doctors’ negligence.

The victim’s kin have accused the hospital administration of keeping them in the dark about the status of the newborn.

“The hospital administration has not told us about the status of the newborn.  At times, they say, the baby is undergoing treatment at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and at times they say that the baby dead,” said a relative of the deceased.

Tamang had been admitted to the hospital for cesarean delivery on Tuesday.   A squad of security personnel has been deployed at the hospital to control the situation. The hospital administration announced the death of the mother on Wednesday.
