Finance Minister claims of working to improve Nepal’s economic status

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada on Sunday said that he was working towards improving Nepal’s economic status no matter what people say about him.

Speaking at a program on the occasion of National Tax Day, Finance Minister Khatiwada vowed to increase the revenue collection.

He said, if this does not happen, the country would need loans, which could be unfortunate to the national economy in the long run.

Stating that he was well-aware of his unpopularity for expanding the range of taxation, Minister Khatiwada, however, said it is natural to have such confusions in a transitional phase.
