KATHMANDU: Former Finance Minister Madhukar SJB Rana has passed away. He was 79.

Rana breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Medicity Hospital in Lalitpur.

A patient of heart, Rana served as the finance minister during the then king Gyanendra Shah’s direct rule.

He is survived by his wife and three sons.
