No to double facilities to retired civil servants, say lawmakers

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers have demanded legal provisions that would prevent retired civil service employees from taking dual financial benefits.

The lawmakers suggested the government include the provision in the law that would bar dual facilities to the retired civil servants who also get political appointments. They made the suggestions during deliberations on the bill in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives’, State Affairs and Good Governance Committee.

The suggestions come at a time when public complaints that a number of retired civil servants appointed to the constitutional positions have been getting pension besides their salary and facilities.
