Social Security Scheme comes into force from today



 

KATHMANDU: Much-hyped contribution-based social security scheme, which was initiated by the government on November 27, 2018, has come into force from today.

The social security scheme has taken effect from today (July 17), said Social Security Fund. With this scheme, citizens’ fundamental right to social security has been ensured in line with Clause (2) of Article 34 of the Constitution of Nepal.

The Council has brought into operation especially four schemes – treatment scheme, maternity scheme, accident and disability scheme and elderly security scheme.

A citizen is entitled to enjoy the facilities determined by the Social Security Fund only after he/she deposits their contribution into the Social Security Fund.
