DTPO, Surkhet raises Rs 16. 458 mln in revenue

SURKHET: District Traffic Police Office (DTPO), Surkhet has generated 16 million, 458 thousand and 500 rupees in revenue by taking action against traffic rules violators.

According to DTPO, Surkhet, this revenue was generated in the fiscal year 2018/19, which is  an excess by 47 percent as compared to that of fiscal year 2017/18. DTPO, Surkhet, had collected Rs 8,798,000 in the fiscal year 2017/18.

“The revenue was raised by fining those who drove vehicles under the influence of alcohol, without carrying license, carrying passengers beyond capacity among others,”   said chief of DTPO, Surkhet,  Hari Bahadur BC.

The DTPO, Surkhet had launched awareness programs about traffic rules for 613 times in the last fiscal year. According to BC,  a total of 35 people died in road accidents in the fiscal year 2017/18 and 29 in the fiscal year 2018/19.
