PM to discuss Guthi Bill with Kathmandu representatives

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister K P Oli has called a meeting of the parliamentarians representing Kathmandu Valley in a bid to discuss the controversial Guthi Bill, which has been registered at the National Assembly two weeks ago.

As per his commitment of ‘considering’ the Bill, Prime Minister Oli has called the meeting.

The highly-talked-about bill brought to ‘manage lands’ belonging to Guthis (religious, social trusts) has been widely protested and criticized, especially by the people of Kathmandu demanding its immediate withdrawal.

The controversial bill has proposed formation of an Authority to manage and oversee the lands currently managed by the Guthi Sansthan.
