Peru Ex-President Garcia dies after shooting himself

LIMA: Peru’s former president Alan Garcia, who shot himself to evade arrest, has died in course of treatment. The former president had shot himself after police tried to arrest him over an investigation of a graft case.

Garcia, 69, was immediately taken to the hospital. He went into a coma after undergoing emergency surgery and passed away, BBC reported.

Garcia was under investigation in connection with Brazilian construction company Odebrecht, which triggered Latin America’s biggest graft scandal- which he had been denying.
