PPL: Dhangadi beats Biratnagar by 5 runs

KASKI: Expert Dhangadi Blues has defeated Biratnagar Titans by five runs in the first match of the Pokhara Premier League (PPL) held at Pokhara Stadium on Monday.

Biratnagar Titans fell short of six runs while chasing the target of 118 runs set by Expert Dhangadi.

Dhangadhi’s DS Airee claimed highest three wickets exerting pressure on the opponent. S Dkahal grabbed two wickets giving away 23 runs while A Kharel, Amit Yadav, KS Airee took one wicket each of Biratnagar Titans to restrict it to mere 112 runs.

Biratangar’s R Rijal made 25 runs off 22 balls, S Dhamala secured 18 runs off 21 balls while P Mehra contributed 15 runs off 18 balls.

Earlier, Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Expert Dhangadi made 117 runs in the allotted 20 overs, losing eight wickets.

KS Airee made highest 26 not-out runs including two fours and two sixes off 21 balls, SA Wijeyeratne collected 25 runs including four fours and one six off 25 balls while RA Thomas contributed 16 runs off 13 balls.

In reply, Biratnagar’s Shahab Alam grabbed three wickets giving away 30 runs in 4 overs, Noman Khan too two wicket conceding 25 runs while Muhammad Zaid Alam, P Mehra and K Mahato claimed 1 wicket each of Expert Dhangadi.

Two cricket games are taking place under the PPL in Pokhara today. Earlier, Dhangadhi had also defeated Biratnagar by 78 runs in the last edition of the PPL.

The second match between Butwal Blasters and Kathmandu Golden Warriors will start at 1 pm.
