DUBLIN: The opening match, of a tri-series (also involving Scotland), between Ireland and Netherlands was abandoned without toss at The Village in Dublin. Lingering misty rain delayed the start and then persisted, forcing the umpires to call the game off within two hours of scheduled start.
The two teams shared points. The Netherlands will now meet Scotland on Monday at the same venue while Ireland will play Scotland on Tuesday. All three teams are supposed to play each other twice before the finalists clash on Friday (September 20).
This triangular series is a filler for the postponed Euro T20 Slam and is a way for the teams to prepare for the T20 World Cup qualifiers which are less than a month away.
