NCP Chair Dahal spews discontentment over govt’s failure to control corruption

KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal said on Sunday that the incumbent government has failed to publicize all the good works that it has accomplished so far.

Dahal’s discontentment spewed while he presented an 11-page-long political dossier at the Standing Committee meeting at the party head office in Dhumbarahi today.

That was not all. The NCP Supremo also said that the government has not done enough to fulfill its commitment to its ‘zero tolerance’ on corruption.

In his political report, Dahal talked about what he called ‘daunting’ task of unification, which he dubbed as a ‘.

“Despite several challenges, the remaining task of the party unification has been done. This should be a matter of contentment.

He, however, suggested the NCP-led government to maintain extremely good ties with the party in its functioning and delivering service to the people, party sources said.

During the meeting, General Secretary Bishnu Poudel presented an amendment proposal to the party’s statute.

The Standing Committee of the NCP ended with party Chairman Dahal and party General Secretary Bishnu Poudel presenting the political dossier and statute amendment, respectively.

Party spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha informed that during the meeting, Chairman Dahal also presented a work plan for the coming six months.

Dahal had on Saturday discussed the issues with Prime Minister and Chairman KP Oli at the prime minister’s residence in Baluwatar. Prime Minister Oli, however, did not attend the meeting due to his health.

Earlier on Sunday, the meeting of the party Secretariat had finalized five agendas —  political dossier, statute amendment, next meeting of the central committee, Nepal-India border dispute and miscellaneous — for the Standing Committee meeting.

The meeting will continue at 11 am on Monday at the party head office, Dhumbarahi.

Earlier PM Oli had attended the Secretariat meeting also for a couple of minutes and had apprised the meeting about his health condition. He had said he has been recovering at a full speed, according to NCP Spokesperson Shrestha.

The Standing Committee meeting of the party is being held after a hiatus of one year.

The meeting had failed to convene although the party’s statute mentions the meeting should be held every three months.

Activities within the party have gained momentum after Chairman Dahal got an executive role.
