KATHMANDU: Kami Rita Sherpa has successfully climbed Mt Everest for the 23rd time on Wednesday morning.

With this ascent, Kami Sherpa, 49, has set the record of climbing the world’s highest peak for most summits.

Breaking his own record of 22 successful ascents of Everest, Kami Rita has now become the only man in the planet to climb Mt Everest for 23 times. Back in 2017,  Kami was the 3rd person to scale Mt Everest for 21 times, equalizing the counts with Apa Sherpa and Phurba Tashi Sherpa.

According to Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, Managing Director at the Seven Summit Treks, this morning at 7:50 am Kami Rita climbed the highest peak via southern side and scripted the history in the sector of mountaineering. “This is a matter of nation’s pride. Climbing the Everest for 23 times successfully is more than the normal imagination” Sherpa added.

Apart from Everest, Kami has successfully scaled  K2, Lhotse and Manaslu (1 time each), and Cho Oyu for 8 times.
