Businessman Sudhir Basnet released on general date



KATHMANDU: Businessman Sudheer Basnet, accused of duping depositors of his cooperative, has been released on a general date on Monday.

The Supreme Court (SC) ordered his release while hearing a habeas corpus writ filed claiming his detention to be illegal.

A bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana and Justice Damber Bahadur Shahi ordered his release.

Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu had arrested him from Bhimsengola of the Capital City on April 2. The cooperative had gone bankrupt in 2013.
