Senior cine artist Deepak Chhetri passes away



KATHMANDU: Senior Nepali cine artist Deepak Chhetri passed away at the age of 58 years on Saturday.

Chhetri, who had gone to the bedroom to sleep on Friday night, was found dead on Saturday morning. Police were called after he didn’t open the door in the morning. The door was broken to find him dead lying on the bed.

The artist had undergone surgery of his vocal cord some months ago.

According to the family, the dead body has been kept the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) for postmortem. His last rites will be performed on Sunday.

Chhetri had acted in films including ‘Jeevandan’, ‘Simana’, ‘Seto Surya’ and ‘Chha Maya Chhapakai’ among others.
