KATHMANDU: The temperature has gone down in the country including the Kathmandu Valley with the westerly winds entering into Nepal.

Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has forecast snowfall and heavy rain in highlands including Manag, Mustang and some hilly parts of the western region. The normal life has been affected in Simikot due to snowfall.

Similarly, eastern regions will witness the light rainfall today.

The normal life has been affected due to snowfall in the mountainous districts including Mugu, Dolpa and Humla. This is the early snowfall in highlands ever experienced in the last eight years in the country, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).

However, the farmers in the mountainous districts have been elated with the snowfall as it would make the soil loose and help grow better crops.

Heavy snowfall is likely in the highlands with chances of light to moderate snowfall in the hilly parts of the country. People in the hilly parts of the western region are advised to take precaution. This kind of weather will continue today also and it will gradually clear from Sunday.

Hence, tourists are advised to take precautions and not to trek until the next two days.
