KAVRE: The construction of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is gaining momentum at Panchkhal in Kavre.
The SEZ is being constructed at around 1,000 ropanis of land at wards 7 and 8 of Panchkhal.
Currently, its main administrative building is under construction. Budget amounting to Rs 120 million was allocated for the building construction in the current fiscal year. Wall construction is also taking place side by side at the cost of Rs 30 million.
It may be noted that the process for the SEZ construction was initiated when the Ministry of Forest directed the District Forest Office to provide land some eight years ago.
Owing to several legal hassles, the process could not take headways in the meantime, shared Pushkar Dhakal, ward chair of Panchkhal municipality-7.
The industries based in SEZ would focus on export-based production. A plan has been developed in a way that 70 percent of the product would be exported while 30 percent to be consumed within the country.
