GENEVA:  Sindhi people have drawn attention of the United Nations to the widespread human rights atrocities being carried out across South Asia, particularly against their community in Pakistan.

Speaking at a conference held on September 12 at the United Nations Office of Geneva (UNOG), Hidayat Bhutto, finance secretary of the World Sindhi Congress, said, “The Sindhi people are currently facing one of the worst onslaughts of violence in their national history at the hands of Pakistani authorities.”

Bhutto further said that the Sindhi people have not only had their autonomy stripped of them, but that they have also been robbed of their distinct culture and language.

Located in the southeast portion of Pakistan, the Sindh province is the historical home to the Sindhi people.

It is the third largest province of Pakistan by area, and second largest by population and the powerhouse of Pakistan’s economy with the headquarters of several multinational banks.
