Nobody wants war after tanker attacks in Gulf of Oman: China

BEIJING: Nobody wants war in the Gulf of Oman, China’s foreign ministry said on Friday urging all sides to exercise restraint following attacks on oil tankers in Gulf waters.

The United States blamed Iran for Thursday’s attacks that scaled up oil prices. The incident fueled concern about a new U.S.-Iranian confrontation. Tehran has denied the accusation.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said, “We hope all relevant parties remain calm and exercise restraint and avoid tensions further escalating, and hope all sides can jointly safeguard navigational safety in the relevant waters and regional peace and stability.” (Agencies)
