281 file nomination for 48 posts in by-elections



KATHMANDU: A total of 281 candidates have filed their nomination for 48 posts in the by-elections scheduled for November 30.

According to the Election Commission, the nomination has been filed for different 48 posts at 44 local levels of 35 districts, which concluded in a peaceful manner today.

By-elections are taking place to the post of a mayor of Sub-metropolitan city, three rural municipality chairpersons, one vice-chair of rural municipalities and 43 ward chairpersons.

Of those who filed their candidacy, 217 are from political parties and 64 are independent candidates. Similarly, number of women filing their nomination is 26.
