Top leaders reach agreement on appointment to constitutional bodies



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli and former Prime Ministers Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Sher Bahadur Deuba have reached a tentative agreement on appointment to constitutional bodies including the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

According to sources, the meeting also discussed giving full shape to Truth and Reconciliation Commission and Commission for the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Person and reached a tentative agreement.

As per the constitution, a constitution council comprising prime minister, leader of the main opposition, Chief Justice among others make appointments to constitutional bodies.

The source said that an agreement has been reached to recommend one each by NCP and NC to two vacant posts of CIAA members.

The name of the one to be recommended by the ruling party will be finalized by the Chairman duo.
