Pak PM in Tehran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday reached Iran on a one-day visit to help mitigate tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office said Prime Minister Khan is undertaking a visit to Tehran as part of the initiative to promote peace and security in the region, international media reports have said.

There has been rising tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia after the start of attacks on Yemen by a coalition led by Riyadh in 2015, and the execution of a Shia cleric in the Gulf Kingdom in 2016.

Khan will have meetings with Iran’s leadership, including supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, reports have said.

This is the second visit of PM Khan to Iran this year. (Agencies)
