50 cadres of Shiva Sena Nepal arrested from Basantapur



KATHMANDU: Police on Friday afternoon arrested 50 cadres of Shiva Sena Nepal from Basantapur as they were planning to protest during a visit to Indra Jatra by President Bidya Devi Bhandari and other high ranking officials.

The law enforcement agency arrested Shiva Sena Nepal Chairman Anil Basnet, ex-DIG Bijaya Bhatta and ex-Major Keshav Basnet among others.

The Hindu nationalist political party claimed that some 1,000 cadres of the party were preparing to stage a protest against secularism cladding in a black dress.

All those arrested have been kept at the Bhrikutimandap-based Nepal Police Club.
