Sajan Gurung injured in Goldhunga firing an accomplice of gangster Samirman

KATHMANDU: It has been revealed that Sajan Gurung who sustained bullet injuries in a confrontation with police in Goldhunga is an accomplice of gangster Samirman Singh Basnyat.

According to police, Gurung is the second-rung member of the gang led by Basnyat. Basnyat is currently serving a jail term at the Central Jail, Sundhara.

Basnyat was the mastermind behind the murder of President of Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal Sharad Kumar Gauchan some two years ago.

A police team deployed from Metropolitan Crime Division (MCD), Teku had opened two rounds of fire on Friday afternoon to nab Gurung alias Najok following a faceoff.

Gurung was in police hit list for extortion. Police had launched a manhunt to nab him following complaints from businessmen of extortion by Gurung.

Gurung, 33, had already served a three-year jail term for murder.
