Monsoon to remain very active till Sunday

KATHMANDU: Widespread rain from moderate to heavy scale is likely to continue till Sunday as the monsoon trough is presently based in the vicinity of Tarai of eastern Nepal and hilly territory of western Nepal.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division in its special bulletin came with a weather forecast of next three days that predicts- monsoon would remain highly active till Sunday, continuing to trigger moderate to heavy rain across the country. There are chances of heavy rainfall at a few places of the eastern and central regions and at one or two places of the western Tarai region today and heavy rainfall at a few places of the eastern and central hilly regions and at one or two places of the western hilly region  has been predicted, the Division states.

On Sunday, a complete cloudy condition is likely over most of the country and widespread rain is expected and heavy rain is likely to occur particularly at some places of eastern and central regions and a few places of the western region. On Monday, widespread rain from moderate to heavy scale has been forecast and extremely heavy rain is likely to hit few places of the eastern region and some parts of the western hilly region.

According to the Division’s latest details, the Kathmandu Valley received 18 mm rain, while Pokhara 21.9 mm, Dang 23.4 mm, Dhangadhi 26.5 mm, Nepalgunj 24.5 mm, Birendranagar 24 mm and Jumla witnessed 15.6 mm rain.
