East-West Highway disrupted as Bhapsi bridge collapses in Bardibas

BARDIBAS: East-West Highway has been disrupted after Bhapsi bridge in Badibas Municipality collapsed after the water level in the river surged due to incessant rains. Thousands of passengers have been hit after the bridge collapsed.

“East-West Highway has been disrupted after Bapsi bridge broke down in the middle due to incessant rains.  Hundreds of vehicles have been stranded along Maisthan check-post of Armed Police Force to Ratukhola road section of Bardibas Municipality-5,” said Chef District Officer Umesh Dhakal.

According to Dipak Khanal, a passenger heading to Ilam, a huge number of vehicles have been stuck without possibility to move ahead. According to Janakpur Police Office of Province 2, the bridge collapsed at 12:10 am today.

Bardibas area has been inundated and the level of water in the river is ever increasing and there is not possibility of diversion for the vehicles, said police.
